About Program

The Whonnock HCA Program is a 52-week, cohort-based training initiative for 15 Indigenous participants. The program integrates the provincial HCA curriculum with specialized Indigenous cultural teachings and wraparound supports. We seek a strategic partnership with PHSA’s Sanya’k̓ula (Indigenous Recruitment and Employee Experience) team to ensure graduates seamlessly transition into sustainable careers within PHSA, supporting your mandate to create a culturally safe and representative workforce.

START DATE: Monday, February 23, 2026

END DATE: Friday, February 26, 2027

DURATION: 52 weeks program

TRAINING MODEL: 

41 weeks of the provincially-recognized Health Care Assistant certificate through Discovery Community College.

5 weeks of specialized Whonnock cultural modules.

4 weeks of dedicated Employment Support Services and a supported job placement period.

* Living allowance available for each participant upon successful admission into the program.
